First Presbyterian Church received the gift of a lighted cross, installed on top of the sanctuary to be a beacon to the Fond du Lac area. The cross is in honor of G. Ward and Marie Laiten. Ward Laiten was a pilot, who remarked repeatedly that the sight of a cross alit on top of a church was a sign of comfort to him as a landmark on the way home. Having a cross placed on the church was something Ward had hoped might be accomplished before he passed away last summer. So Ward and Marie’s family chose to complete the project in honor of their parents. Ward and Marie have provided the cross as a sign of hope for everyone, both traveling on the ground and in the air.
