Sermon: Daring to Dream of Redemption.

Theme: We will sing with Mary a song of hope and new possibility for those who are voiceless and in need of relief.

Purpose: We will recommit ourselves to God’s love and kindness for those who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Scriptures: Isaiah 61:1-4, 8-11 The Word of the Lord proclaim liberty to the captives, justice, and new birth.
Luke 1:46b-55 The Magnificat of Mary, the proclamation of God’s righteousness and justice.

Questions:
How do we feel about Mary’s song of lifting up the lowly and bringing down the mighty? Do we tend to be more like the lowly or might we need to be prepared to be brought down by the justice of God? How do we take joy in the gifts of God for people who are less fortunate than ourselves? What is the blessing of God’s redemptive work happening in the world around us?
How do we become people who are satisfied with the good things that God has given us?
