Sermon:           “Living Graciously”

Theme:            We work to develop our practice of forgiveness for our own benefit, and to enjoy freedom from attachments to things that are past.

Purpose:          We will work on our practices of forgiveness and release.

Scriptures:       Romans 14:1-12          Instructions to be compassionate on those whose faith is different from our own.

Matthew 18:21-35      Peter asks how often we should forgive. Jesus tells the parable of the unforgiving servant.

Questions:

How does forgiveness free us from the issues and the bitterness of the past? What is it that we do that causes us to continue to carry the grievances of the past into new relationships? How is it that we deceive ourselves into continuing to suffer from issues of the past? What do we need to do in order to make forgiveness a real practice in our lives? How is forgiveness dependent on other spiritual practices? How is forgiveness for the issues that continue to plague us related to resentments and grievances that we nurse within ourselves? How do we find peace in the world through learning to generously forgive?
