Sermon: “Submitting to the Good Shepherd”

Theme: We place our abilities and strengths in the service of the love of Christ so that we may do the things that will demonstrate the love of the kingdom of God.

Purpose: To reaffirm our submission to serving Christ.

Scriptures: Ezekiel 34:11-16, 20-24 God the great shepherd will feed the sheep, and will punish the unfaithful shepherds.
Matthew 25:31-46 The parable of the sheep and the goats, the judgement on those who do not act on the love of God.

Questions:
What does God desire of us? How do we know if we are living as “sheep” or “goats?” How do we take part in doing the good work that was described in this passage? Is it each Christian’s responsibility to do all of the good deeds described or is it about caring and acting out of compassion? What is the Prophet Ezekiel talking about in terms of “greedy sheep” pushing out
the thinner sheep? How do we recognize our need to be conscious of the needs of others? What is our call to faithfulness that Ezekiel is sharing with us?
