Join us on December 22, as Rev. Dr. Craig Alwin leads us in 9 am worship with the sermon, “Why Has This Happened to Me?” Here are a few questions to consider in preparation for worship.
- What is the difference between a reaction and a response?
- When troubling things happen to us, what is our first reaction? Do we cry out in frustration, “Why is this happening?”
- How do we learn to respond in faith, “Why do I have this honor?”
- What are examples of moments you were initially frustrated or scared, and over time you are able to see some greater good that came from that experience?
- Do we see that “greater good” as a product of our own doing, or as part of God’s love, through the presence and leading of the Holy Spirit?
- How do these examples help us to trust God more and more, and view the temporary troubles of this life through the lens of God’s love?
