Sermon: A Message of Hope or a Message of Fear.

Theme: We will seek to be people to meditate upon the Word of God and seek justice in our own lives so we can wait with confidence for God to bring justice.

Purpose: To learn to trust more in God’s work and will than in our own wealth or power.

Scriptures: Malachi 3:16-4:6 The day of the Lord is coming, and the Prophet Elijah will come to turn the hearts of parents to their children and the hearts of children to their parents.
Mark 9:9-13 After Jesus was transfigured he tells the disciples that Elijah has already come (John the Baptist).

Questions:
What does it mean for us to welcome “Elijah” as a messenger of God’s work and change? Are we really ready to welcome the message of change? How do we let go of our need to control the changes that are coming into the world? What difference does it make to us that God is sending a message to prepare us for something new? How do we establish ourselves on the
statues and ordinances of God so we can be confident with the changes that are coming?
